Litter picking

Amma is always emphasizing the importance of  litter picking.  Did you know that “…one cigarette butt filter, with or without tobacco remnants, smoked or not smoked, in one litre of water will kill 50% of the fish living in it) and… [that] cigarette filters have been found in the stomachs of fish, birds, whales and other marine creatures who mistake them for food).

What about your area?  Wherever there is a litter bin in my area, I almost always find packets of plastic, cans etc. near it.  I now look out for opportunities to pick up litter and place it in an appropriate bin.  This single exercise has changed my awareness when out walking!

Fourth Sunday, Clean Sunday

It is hoped that on this day, everyone will set aside at least one hour to cleaning their surroundings. (more…)
